Oakland's Queer Midwife
Marea Goodman, licensed midwife

Marea Goodman, LM, CPM

I absolutely love being a homebirth midwife, and feel especially excited to serve and support queer families.
For me, midwifery care and homebirth offer one of the greatest opportunities for human connection.
My practice is centered around the belief that everyone deserves a safe and empowering experience of pregnancy and birth.

I have attended hundreds of births in both home and birth center settings, in multiple states in the country, and in places across the globe. I bring positive energy, a kind heart, and extensive experience to each of my clients to ensure they have the most empowered birthing experience possible. I also offer queer and trans appropriate healthcare to my clients who do not fit into the gender binary. También, hablo español.

I am from San Francisco, and I am so excited to be apprenticing with Marea’s midwifery practice. I believe everyone has the right to a joyful pregnancy and birth experience, and I feel that homebirth can offer that for many families. I have worked as a translator since 2015, so accompanying Spanish-speaking families in their pregnancy journeys is particularly important to me. I am also deeply committed to facilitating nurturing and validating pregnancy experiences for queer and trans parents. I am excited for every opportunity I have to learn and grow alongside expanding families, and I am grateful to be a part of your path to parenthood.

We look forward to hearing from you!
